In an effort to foster a tighter community within WashingtonExec members and their families, WashingtonExec on July 17 hosted its first-ever family outing at the Winery at Bull Run in Centreville, Virginia.

The event offered plenty of family-friendly activities, including face painting and an on-site photographer. Rep. Barbara Comstock, R-Va., also gave a brief speech.

“The Winery at Bull Run was a perfect setting for WashingtonExec’s inaugural family winery outing,” she said. “I enjoyed visiting with the men and women who are business leaders in our community in a variety of areas, along with their families. Thanks to JD Kathuria, founder and CEO of WashingtonExec, and Kevin Kelly, executive officer of LGS Innovations, and WashingtonExec’s hard-working team for making this inaugural event such a great success.”

Jill Bruning, executive vice president and general manager of Aecom, echoed the congresswoman’s sentiments.

“I really enjoyed the winery event,” Bruning said. “It provided an opportunity to meet colleagues’ spouses and family members and learn a little more about them in an informal setting. It was relaxing and a lovely venue.”

Jerry Hogge, deputy group president of Leidos, said: “My wife and I attended WashExec’s first weekend event at Bull Run Winery. A fabulous venue, excellent turnout and a fun and relaxing time to see friends and colleagues while enjoying the beautiful countryside, vineyard and winery. Fantastic event.”

“WashingtonExec considers all of its members to be family, so it was nice to finally host a nice family outing like this where the WashingtonExec community definitely got tighter, as was the goal of the event,” Kathuria said.

A special thank-you to the event sponsor, LGS Innovations, an advanced solutions and wireless communications company that delivers mission-critical communications products, R&D and supporting services to U.S. defense, intelligence and civilian agencies and commercial customers.
