On June 16, members of the WashingtonExec community came together for the first GovCon Executive Happy Hour of the summer at Maggiano’s in Tysons Corner, sponsored by LMI Government Consulting and NETE Solutions.
Happy hours serve as a casual networking opportunity for executives to meet and catch up with members of a variety of WashingtonExec Councils and branches of government contracting.
“NETE values the opportunities that WashingtonExec provides to industry,” says Sandeep Somaiya, Managing Director and CEO of NETE Solutions. “The happy hour was an excellent opportunity for NETE to co-sponsor the event and connect with other executives in the area. These events foster business relationships that can be invaluable to an organization.”
One topic of the night was the expansion of the WashingtonExec Career Bridge with the first “Meet the Parents” events for the Rising Stars of GovCon Committee, and the College Student Leadership Committee Event with Parents, in late May and June respectively.
The Rising Stars of GovCon Committee is composed of young professionals of WashingtonExec members who are following in their parents’ footsteps by working in the government contracting industry themselves.
The success of our kick-off College Leadership Committee Event with Parents led to a highly requested second event with parents. Past events have covered topics such as developing elevator pitches, building one’s brand and learning the dos and don’ts of job interviewing. WashingtonExec’s Career Bridge Program has expanded to high school students, and hosts roundtables on topics such as how to identify professional and personal strengths/weaknesses and resume building.
