    Seyfarth Shaw LLP Names Andrew J. Sherman to Firm’s Corporate Department

    Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced the appointment of partner Andrew J. Sherman to the firm’s Corporate department in Washington, D.C. He previously worked as the Jones Day global co-chair of its franchising and distribution practice and partner in the mergers and acquisitions department.

    “Andrew’s record as a practitioner and prolific scholar speak for themselves. He elevates our already strong franchise and M&A practices,” Seyfarth’s Corporate department chair Paul Mattingly said. “As we continue to grow our national corporate practice, we see Andrew as a key part of delivering on our commitment to innovation that benefits our clients.”

    “Andrew is a high energy, successful business lawyer who practices at the highest level, both domestically and internationally,” Seyfarth’s Washington, D.C. office managing partner Robert Bodansky said. “He is a trusted advisor to his clients, a respected professor to his students and a thought-leader in our profession. We are delighted to have Andrew join us as we continue to expand our talented office.”

    Sherman has served as a legal and strategic advisor in connection with a wide range of mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs, leveraged buy-outs, acquisitions of Chapter 11 companies and management buy-outs. He has written nearly 30 books and published numerous articles addressing both the strategic and legal aspect of business growth, capital formation, franchising, and leveraging intellectual property. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland, MBA Program and at Georgetown University Law School.

    Sherman earned his J.D. from the American University – Washington College of Law and his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Maryland, where he has won numerous teaching awards.

    Seyfarth’s Corporate department focuses on areas such as mergers and acquisitions, securities, investment management, corporate counseling, commercial transactions, financing, international business and tax planning.
