Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced the appointment of partner Andrew J. Sherman to the firm’s Corporate department in Washington, D.C. He previously worked as the Jones Day global co-chair of its franchising and distribution practice and partner in the mergers and acquisitions department.

Sherman has served as a legal and strategic advisor in connection with a wide range of mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs, leveraged buy-outs, acquisitions of Chapter 11 companies and management buy-outs. He has written nearly 30 books and published numerous articles addressing both the strategic and legal aspect of business growth, capital formation, franchising, and leveraging intellectual property. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland, MBA Program and at Georgetown University Law School.
Sherman earned his J.D. from the American University – Washington College of Law and his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Maryland, where he has won numerous teaching awards.
