Alion Science and Technology announced April 7 the appointment of Mark Gerencser to its Board of Directors.
“Alion is well-positioned to continue our successful track record, both by focusing on the high level of services that we provide while also expanding our capabilities across the entire federal government,” Alion CEO Bahman Atefi said. “Mark’s experience and insights are a perfect match for our vision of the company’s future, and we are delighted that he will be contributing to Alion’s business strategy.”
“Alion is at an exciting point in its history,” Gerencser said. “The company is highly-regarded for its engineering and technical capabilities, and that’s reflected in its performance. I am excited to be part of Alion’s next chapter, to build an even greater company that continues to solve its customers’ toughest challenges.”
Gerencser spent 31 years with Booz Allen Hamilton through his retirement in July 2013. During that time, he served six terms on its board of directors and also led the company’s efforts to build several businesses in national security, cyber, energy and commercial markets.
Since his retirement, Gerencser venture-funded three start-ups: PC services company CyberSpa, infrastructure innovation company Multi-Flex Pipe Systems and internet of things (IOT) security company Welbeck Connect. He serves as an independent director on the boards of Sotera Defense Solutions and Orion System Integrators and serves as Chairman of the Board of Visitors at University of Maryland — University College, where he earned a graduate degree in technology management. In addition, he is a member of the National Security Agency Advisory Board (NSAAB) Emerging Technologies Panel.
Gerencser is also the co-author of the best-selling book “Megacommunities.”
