We at WashingtonExec are proud to announce John Sutton, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Vencore’s Civilian and Defense Group, as Founding Chairman of the WashingtonExec General Managers (GM) Council. Vencore is headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia and has more than 40 years of experience delivering high-impact and mission-focused engineering, cyber, analytics and applied research solutions to the defense, civilian and intelligence communities.
The WashingtonExec General Managers Council is a platform for leaders to gain advanced and targeted knowledge on best practices for operating, winning and growing their respective businesses across the federal marketplace. Fit executives are direct reports to CEOs/COOs and run P&Ls of $50M in revenue and above.
As Chairman, Sutton is spearheading this initiative to address the specific needs of executives in the General Manager role that are beyond day-to-day tactical and direct report issues. The Council will collaborate on challenges such as the future of govcon industry, cultural implications of competing generations, the art of M&A integration, management of abstract verse tactical leadership goals, and adjacent market penetration. Roundtable speakers will be selected from both the acquisition and delivery side of government, along with industry growth and branding experts.
Members of this exclusive Council will meet six times annually to engage in intimate and off-the-record discussions. These roundtables allow participants to exchange best practices, identify mission challenges and discuss private sector needs. Each executive representative will also select one critical talent, an individual identified as a future leader within the member organization, to observe and participate in executive-level discussions.
Learn more about Sutton by reading WashigntonExec’s 2014 article about his children who all work in the broader federal contracting business, with specializations in IT development, cyber security and talent acquisition.
