Deloitte LLP announced Dec. 7 that Janet Foutty has been named Deloitte Consulting LLP Chairwoman and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2016. Foutty succeeds Jim Moffatt, who has recently been named global consulting business leader, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited.

“Janet has a track record of helping clients tackle their toughest challenges with innovative solutions,” Deloitte LLP CEO Cathy Engelbert said. “Her vision, superior client service, and thought leadership position her well to lead our U.S. consulting practice, which is top ranked by Gartner, IDC and Kennedy.”

“The complexity of today’s global business environment combined with the pace of change is something every organization is facing,” Foutty said. “As we work with our clients to address their most complex challenges, I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve the clients and people of this great practice — and am excited to build on the outstanding achievement of our consulting business. My passion has always been for our people and creating opportunity and competitive advantage for our clients, now and for the future.”

A principal with Deloitte Consulting LLP, Foutty most recently served as Deloitte’s federal practice leader.

During her 25-year career with Deloitte, Foutty has served clients across several industries and has raised visibility of thought leadership in key federal areas, including veterans’ issues, millennials in public service, and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. She was selected by Executive Mosaic as one of the Wash100(TM) for 2015 and was also recently named one of the 100 leaders in STEM by STEMconnector(TM).

Based in Chicago, Foutty is currently the only female CEO to lead a consulting practice of this size, scope and scale. She is an advocate of Deloitte’s Women’s Initiative and founded Women in Technology groups in India and the U.S. — and sits on the board of Bright Pink, a nonprofit dedicated to women’s health.

Foutty earned a Bachelor of Science in quantitative business analysis from Indiana University and a Masters of Business Administration in finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. She currently serves on the Dean’s Council of the Indiana University, Kelly School of Business and on the board of directors of the Professional Services Council.
