The 2015 Sweet Home Virginia Gala will be held at 6pm on Friday, October 9 at the Sheraton Tysons Hotel in Tysons Corner, VA.

A pillar of this event is the presentation of the Community Leadership Award for outstanding service and commitment to Northern Virginia. This year the event will honor Jim Wordsworth of J.R.’s Goodtimes Inc. with the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia’s 2015 Community Leadership Award, which is the longest-standing community-based recognition award in Northern Virginia.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation, Paul Leslie had this to say of this year’s Leadership Award winner, “This year’s Community Leadership honor will go to Jim Wordsworth of J.R.’s Goodtimes, Inc. Jim’s charitable and civic involvement in Northern Virginia has set a very high standard. We are thrilled to recognize Jim’s outstanding commitment to the region.” Leslie stresses that “Wordsworth clearly exceeds the criteria and sets the bar for all future recipients to come.”

The program for the evening starts at 6 p.m. with a reception and silent auction, followed by a seated dinner, awards presentation and live auction.

Last year’s event raised approximately $490,000 to support the Community Foundation’s work, impact and capacity to grow philanthropy to meet the most critical needs of the Northern Virginia region.

    Individual tickets are $300.
