The Pratham DC Chapter has decided to adopt a Chapter Advisory Board much like the models followed by other Pratham USA chapters across the country. This group will consist of the most generous supporters.
New Members of the Pratham DC Chapter Advisory Board:
Alpa Bhungalia, who is at present a stay-at-home mom and has experience as a community organizer in Chicago. She has also worked with various immigrant organizations. Alpa’s interest in Pratham comes from her belief in educating people irrespective of their age and socio-economic background and with that education these people will benefit along with society.
Jai Saboo is currently COO of Harmonia Holdings Group, LLC which is a federal IT services company. Jai is one of the initial members of the Indian Angel Network which is now India’s largest angel investor network. He and his wife, Pallabi offer support to various charities, including Rotary International’s PolioPlus program, Akshaya Patra Foundation as well as Pratham.
Dr. Bhavini Trivedi, a physician who specializes in allergy, asthma and immunology is the co-founder of an allergy medical practice that has an interest in food allergies. She has collaborated with the Fairfax County School Board to implement food allergy policies for the school district.
The Pratham DC Chapter Executive Board has one member transitioning to the Advisory Board. Jeannine Piacenza, co-founder and executive director of CommuniKids Preschool and Children’s Language Center, was one of the founding members of the Pratham DC chapter after relocating from Houston in 2002. She has over 20 years of teaching experience and has been an entrepreneur since 2005 when she founded CommuniKids.
Piacenza will be joining two existing Advisory Board members; Rakesh Bhatia and Ram Karuppusamy. Bhatia is the President of the Pratham DC chapter and is currently a principal at PwC US as well as leader of the Advisory Service Delivery Centers. Karuppusamy, CEO of LanceSoft and Acretix, serves as Co-President of the Pratham DC chapter.
