The Children’s Inn at NIH brought together 780 donors who together raised nearly $700,000 at its gala fundraiser, “An Evening for Hope,” on Saturday, May 2. Musical comedy group The Capitol Steps served as the evening’s entertainment with song parodies and political commentary.

“The outpouring of support surpassed our expectations,” event chairman Robert Guerra said. “The money raised enables children to participate in groundbreaking medical research that may help them and those like them overcome these life-threatening illnesses some day.”

“We are so grateful to our donors,” The Children’s Inn CEO Jennie Lucca said. “There has never been a more exciting and important time for The Inn to help children who can benefit from the rapid advancements in medical research.”

Current and former residents, along with their families, described how the existence of The Inn alleviated many of the stresses of dealing with a serious illness.
