ManTech International Corporation, of Fairfax, Va., announced Jan. 7 the appointment of retired U.S. Army Brigadier General Andrew Twomey as Senior Vice President and General Manager of its Mission Solutions & Services (MSS) Group’s Army business unit.

Twomey will be responsible for the execution of business strategy to expand and enhance capability offerings, focusing on complex IT networks and systems, efficient and secure logistics and procurement solutions, and related training services.

“We are exceptionally fortunate to welcome Andy to our management team,”ManTech’s MSS Group President and COO Dan Keefe said. “We are confident that the combination of his leadership and business insight will result in business growth through enhanced solutions and service delivery for our existing and new customers.”

Twomey previously served as COO of Phycal Inc. and President of L-3 Communications, Global Security and Engineering Solutions.

Before working in the private sector, Twomey served in the Army career and retired as a brigadier general. As a flag officer, he served as the deputy commanding general and chief of staff for the Combined Security Transition Command in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Twomey earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy, a master’s degree in political science from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree in security studies from the National Defense University.

WashingtonExec last covered ManTech in October 2014 when the company was awarded a $29.7 million task order by the U.S. Navy.
