Reston, Va.-based Leidos announced Dec. 8 the appointment of Steven Russell as senior vice president for sales and strategic accounts of Leidos Health, effective Dec. 1, 2014.

“With more than 20 years of executive sales leadership across the healthcare industry, Steven brings significant experience and knowledge of the Health IT market,” Leidos Health President Steve Comber said. “His leadership credentials will have an immediate impact on our commercial health business, and his health IT acumen will have an enduring impact on the services we offer our customers.”

Russell will be responsible for the sales and account management teams, along with achieving the organization’s revenue goals, developing an optimal account management strategy and retaining a metric-driven sales organization.

Russell previously served as the senior vice president of corporate development at Quantros Corporation, and has held senior positions at Cerner, Aperio Technologies, Quadramed, HealthScribe and Compucare.

Russell earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and attended Harvard Business School’s “Finance for Senior Executives” program. He has been a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the Digital Pathology Association and the Northern Virginia Technology Council.
