Huntsville, Ala.-based Dynetics CEO Dr. Marc Bendickson announced Nov. 17 the appointment of Steve Cook as the company’s new Vice President for Corporate Development.
“We are pleased to have someone with Steve’s experience and energy direct our corporate development efforts,” Bendickson said in a statement. “We are confident that his leadership will help carry us strongly into the future.”
In his new role, Cook will manage the corporate development team, which leads and supports development of company strategies, emerging business opportunities, focused programs and products.
Cook joined the company in 2009 as the Director of Space Technologies after serving as manager of Ares projects for NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) for five years, culminating his 20-year career with the government space agency.
Cook previously worked as deputy and acting director of the Space Transportation Programs, deputy manager of the next Generation Launch Technology/Advanced Space Transportation Programs, deputy manager of the Next Generation Launch Technology/Advanced Space Transportation Program and a member of Systems Engineering and Management at Marshall Space Flight Center.
Cook’s honors and awards include the Meritorious Executive Presidential Rank Award for his sustained achievements as manager of the Ares projects; the NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal for his exemplary management of the Exploration Launch Projects Office; and a NASA Exceptional Service Medal for outstanding efforts as a member of the Exploration Systems Architecture Study.
Cook earned a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering and mechanics from the University of Minnesota, attended the Harvard Business School’s Leading Product Development Course and received a certification in federal acquisition.
