The St. Andrew’s Society of Washington, D.C. will host its 65th Annual Tartan Ball from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at The Mayflower Hotel, 1127 Connecticut Ave., NW.
The event will honor Thomas James Murray.
Entertainment for the evening includes ballroom dancing to the Capital Jazz Band and performances by the St. Andrew’s Society’s Pipes and Drums, and Highland Dancers. Cocktail hour starts at 7 p.m., with dinner and silent auction at 8 p.m. The musical performances begin at 8:30 p.m. with performances by Pipes and Drums, and the Highland Dancers, with ballroom dancing to follow at 9:30 p.m.
Dress for the event is black tie, Highland evening dress or military evening dress.
Dinner, Cocktails and Dancing tickets (7 p.m. to midnight) are available until Nov. 21 for $190. The ticket includes an open bar with Scottish single malt whisky, a three-course dinner, dancing, table seating, Scottish entertainments and the opportunity to bid on items from the Silent Auction.
Cocktails and Dancing Tickets (9 p.m. to midnight) are available through Nov. 21 for $89. The ticket includes ascending to a private balcony within the ballroom, an open balcony bar, Scottish entertainments, dancing and the opportunity to bid on items from the Silent Auction.
Proceeds from the Tartan Ball, including those from the Silent Auction, benefit the St. Andrew’s Society’s own Washington Scots Charity & Education Fund, a 501(c) charitable arm of The Society, which has enabled students from both the U.S. and Scotland to further their academic pursuits.
