Computer Sciences Corp. is modifying its leadership structure in an effort to trim overhead and make it easier to work with customers and partners — in the process eliminating its global chief and shaking up oversight of the company’s public sector business, according to Washington Business Journal‘s Jill R. Aitoro.
“As CSC’s business transformation continues, we are simplifying and fine-tuning our operating model,” CSC spokesman Rich Adamonis said. “These changes are going to help drive agility and growth, reduce complexities, deepen relationships with partners and customers, and significantly benefit business outcomes.”
The changes mainly relate to the company’s lines of reporting: Regional heads will now report directly to CEO Mike Lawrie, instead of a central global organization. Consequently, John Maguire, the former executive vice president and general manager of CSC’s global sales and regional operations, has left the company, a spokesman confirmed.
Larry Prior, former lead of NPS’ Defense and Intelligence Group, will step up to lead the sector. He has been running the defense and intelligence business since May 2013, when CSC combined the two groups into one.
“Larry has been an integral part of Dave’s efforts to reshape NPS over the past year and a half,” Northwind Partners Managing Partner Mark HuYoung said. “They’ve had great alignment in accomplishing objectives. Larry’s experience in prior change-driven leadership roles have him well prepared to take the reins and continue forward with the company’s strategy. He has baked this cake before and can do it again now with a greater depth of experience and wisdom.”
Ken Deutsch, former lead of NPS’ Naval and Joint Operations Division, will assume Larry’s former role as lead of the Defense and Intelligence Group.
Dave Zolet, former executive vice president and general manager of CSC’s North American Public Sector (NPS), is transitioning to the commercial side of the business to lead the Americas region.
Prior, Deutsch and Zolet each play key roles in driving CSC’s strategy and growth.
The company is also consolidating some back-office processes, creating the Commercial Shared Services group to combine the finance and sales operations across the various regions. Less than 50 jobs will be eliminated, with about 14 coming from Greater Washington.
