Technology and management solutions company Acentia announced Sept. 29 that it has been appraised at the Carnegie Mellon University CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 4 for Development for its software development and maintenance work.

Acentia is one of only seven companies in the U.S. currently appraised at Level 4 under the current standard. The company is also appraised at CMMI Level 3 for Services and is certified as ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 20000, which are internationally recognized best practices for Quality Management Systems.

“As a leading provider of innovative solutions to customers, Acentia has extremely high standards, which we strive to exceed every day,” Acentia Chief Architect Tom Woteki, PhD said. “Our commitment to excellence is clearly demonstrated by the company being appraised at CMMI ML4 across the company. This level of appraisal provides assurances to our customers that Acentia is fully capable of measuring process effectiveness, allowing for more predictability and confidence in software development projects.”

CMMI is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with elements of effective processes to improve their performance. An appraisal at maturity Level 4 indicates that the organization is performing at a “quantitatively managed” level.

At this level, the organization and projects establish quantitative objectives for quality and process performance and use them as criteria for successfully executing and managing customer projects.

WashingtonExec most recently covered Acentia in August 2014 when Richard Jacik joined as senior vice president and sector executive for health.
