Last week Preferred Systems Solutions Inc. (PSS) announced that it has acquired Global Services & Solutions, Inc. (GSS). PSS provides information technology (IT), enterprise resource planning (ERP), financial consulting services and program management, and GSS provides acquisition and program support, engineering and technical expertise, and consulting services for major weapons systems acquisitions programs. With this acquisition, PSS has enhanced its contracting relationship with the Department of Defense (DOD).

“Both GSS and PSS work with the same investor. The greater scale offers the company more leverage in the markets to pursue larger opportunities,” said Mark HuYoung, managing partner at NorthWind Partners. “That being said, both Scott and Jim possess impressive leadership qualities, which will be crucial to successful integration, stability, and accretion.”

After the transition, GSS president Jim Ballard will serve as president of PSS Federal Services Group. In his 40 years of executive-level management and leadership experience within the government services market, Ballard led public and private businesses of different sizes and classifications. At Perot Systems Government Services, he served as chief operating officer and president; during this time, Ballard led growth strategy, daily operations and business development.

“These are demanding times for both our government partners and our peers in industry,” said Ballard. “The depth and breadth of PSS’ capabilities will allow us to provide best-in-class services to a broad range of federal agencies.”

PSS’s government and commercial clients include the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Transportation Command, the Defense Logistics Agency, and the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security and State, among others.

“PSS is committed to providing world class support to the hardworking men and women that are charged with defending our country and preserving democracy at home and abroad,” said Scott Goss, CEO of PSS. “The acquisition of GSS strengthens our long standing commitment to working with our government partners to efficiently and effectively accomplish their critical national security missions.”
