Pragmatics, a federal government services and solutions company based in Reston, Va., announced Aug. 25 that it has named Richard Silver as Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO).

“We are pleased to welcome Rich to Pragmatics,” said Pragmatics CEO Dr. Long Nguyen. “He brings outstanding leadership to our team, with more than 30 years of experience in business development, proposal management, and information technology across the federal market, including civilian agencies, homeland security, and the Department of Defense. Rich will use his strong understanding and knowledge of our industry to identify and capture new business.” In this role, Silver will lead corporate business development, encompassing capture, proposal development, and market research.

Silver most recently served as Strategic Capture and Proposal Manager and Managing Partner at Aperture Growth Strategies. He previously was Vice President of Business Development at SAIC for 10 years.

Silver’s expertise includes managing and leading major proposal efforts, building and maintaining multi-billion-dollar pipelines of federal opportunities, and working with existing and potential customers to determine requirements and develop solutions. His experience also includes market research and analysis, account strategy, and budget trend and spending analysis.

Silver holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a master’s degree in public administration from Syracuse University.
