McLean-based Novetta Solutions, which provides advanced analytics to government and commercial clients, has acquired Global News Intelligence (GNI) “to expand our presence in the sentiment analytics and open source intelligence markets,” according to Novetta CEO Peter LaMontagne.

“We are very excited to welcome the entire GNI team to Novetta,” said LaMontagne. “GNI’s innovative approach to traditional and social media analytics and open source intelligence combines deep subject matter expertise with scalable technology that maps very well to Novetta’s advanced analytics solutions.”

GNI provides sentiment and influence analytics tools to help clients who work with massive quantities of data, focusing on cyber, identity and social analytics. The company is known for its innovation in the open source intelligence analytics market and supports the Department of Defense and the Department of State, among other clients. GNI has seen significant growth for its solutions, as open source intelligence analytics have become critical to military missions and diplomatic engagement under “soft power” and stabilization efforts. Outside of military operations, GNI’s technology helps clients geospatially quantify and understand sentiment, influence and rhetoric in both social and traditional media.

“This is the right time for us to join forces with a company like Novetta that shares our vision and commitment to innovation,” said GNI CEO Matthew Ennis. “The integration of our respective capabilities makes great sense in consideration of the emerging requirements of our customers. Novetta’s world-class technology will allow us to scale quickly, invest more in our technology and address a wider customer base.”

“GNI is a great fit for Novetta, providing both a differentiated technology solution and new customers that are highly complementary,” added Michael Lustbader, a Partner at Arlington Capital. “This acquisition reinforces Novetta’s position as a leader in advanced analytics to leading government agencies and commercial firms.”
