This week Washington Technology reported that longtime government contracting leader Ted Davies will be leaving Unisys, effective July 25.
Since 2008, Davies has served as president of Unisys Federal, playing a pivotal role in building the company. Davies’ next move has not been disclosed.
Venkatapathi “PV” Puvvada will hold down the position of acting president until a permanent replacement is found. Puvvada currently serves as group vice president of civilian agencies at Unisys.
Mark HuYoung, managing partner at NorthWind Partners, spoke to the transition:
“Ted Davies’ stable persona and measured focus on driving efficiencies helped Unisys’ Federal business through the initial high-turbulence of the market. At the time Ted succeeded Greg, it was wise for the company to place a “mainstay” executive at the helm of federal to promote stability and continuity in the organization,” HuYoung said. “Ted was well liked and involved in the community. I know his departure will be felt deeply within the organization and wish him the best as he heads to the mid-market. PV is very capable of holding the ship steady until the company decides who will be best to lead the organization toward growth in a highly competitive market.”
At Unisys, Davies provided much needed foresight in the uncertain government marketplace of the past six years. Nick Wakeman of Washington Technology reported that Davies led Unisys through cost cutting measures before his fellow contractors resolved to do so as well.
Reducing costs and increasing efficiencies are just a couple pieces of Davies’ legacy at Unisys. He was also an early adopter of cloud computing, according to Wakeman.
