McLean, Va.-based Dovel Technologies last month announced it has been re-appraised at Level 3 of the CMMI Institute’s Capability Model Maturity Integration (CMMI). Dovel is a software application development and IT solutions company and has been CMMI Level 3 since 2008.

The Process Company performed the appraisal, evaluating four programs across Dovel’s Health IT and Enterprise Solutions Groups. An appraisal at maturity level 3 indicates that the organization performs at a “defined” level. Processes are well characterized and understood at this level, and they described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods. Level 3 organizations have already established their set of standard processes, and they are committed to improving them over time.

“Over the years, Dovel has shown a continued focus on establishing, following, and building  strong organizational standard processes,” said Andy Felschow, a lead CMMI Institute appraiser. “As the company has grown they have taken special care to ensure that their quality process grows with the company to meet the needs of large, complex projects.”

Dov Levy, the company’s chief technologist said the company is proud.

“Over the years we have continued to scale and adapt our processes to meet the changing needs of our growing business and of our customers,” Levy said. “We are proud that the quality of our solutions has remained consistently above industry standards throughout our growth and change.”
