Arlington-based Accenture Federal Services (AFS) announced this week that it was awarded a $48 million contract from the Department of Treasury. Through the five-year task order, Accenture will provide IT and financial management services to enhance technologies and improve service levels.

Specifically, Accenture will make technology recommendations, provide acquisition support, and manage systems security, enterprise architecture, financial systems, and project and program management. In addition, Accenture will update the Treasury’s IT strategy, aiming to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency throughout the agency.

The Treasury Department manages the funds necessary to run the federal government, along with managing other systems that are critical to the U.S. financial infrastructure. Accenture’s task order was awarded under the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Total Information Processing Support Services (TIPSS-4) Information Technology Services (ITS) indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicle.
