WashingtonExec Summer Reading List Series:
It might not yet “officially” be summer, but with rising temperatures beckoning the start of patio cookout season, WashingtonExec asked area executives which books they planned to peruse this summer.
Bob Gourley is the founder and CTO of Crucial Point, LLC, and Editor of the popular tech blog CTO Vision.com.
The writing savvy executive recommended — above all books he’d seen this year — The Hard Thing About Hard Things: Building a Business When There Are No Easy Answers. Authored by Silicon Valley entrepreneur Ben Horowitz, the book offers advice on the art of building and running a startup — an art Gourley deems essential to any enterprise chief technology officer.
“Lessons from Ben can be very helpful to anyone creating things, especially entrepreneurs. Ben’s lessons help leaders prepare for the unexpected/hard problems,” Gourley wrote in a March post on CTOVision.com that reviews and summarizes Gourley’s takeaways from the book.
Gourley in December provided us his 2014 Market Outlook. Read the prediction here to see if Gourley was correct in his forecast.
