Ambition was in the air Saturday evening as about 700 sponsors and contributors donned their preferred cocktail attire to gather for the Children’s Inn at the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) annual “Evening for Hope” event at The Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner.

The event drew $750,000 in net proceeds to benefit the Inn, which has since 1990 provided pediatric patients and their families a “therapeutic” place to stay while their children receive treatment for severe illnesses at the NIH’s biomedical research center located in Bethesda, Maryland.

The Inn provides the living accommodations free of charge in order to “reduce the burdens of illness through a supportive environment” for its beneficiaries.

Jennifer Holliday, a Tony and Grammy Award winner, performed at the event whose evening program included dinner, remarks and a silent auction.

NIH Director Francis Collins also addressed Inn families at the event with inspirational words.

The event’s sponsors included Data Networks Corporation, DSFederal, Inc., Morgan Franklin Consulting, NetApp, CTIS, Inc., ICF International, SRA International, Blue Canopy, NETE, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Sapient Corporation and Attain among many others.
