The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) last week elected Nazzic Keene, the sector president at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC),to its eight-person board of directors.
The not-for-profit organization provides tragedy assistance to the families and friends of those who have lost military loved ones. In her role, Keene will assist the board in holding TAPS accountable to meeting its mission.
The group has since its founding in 1994 assisted more than 40,000 surviving family members, caregivers and casualty officers through its provision of care work assistance, peer based emotional support and trauma and grief resources.
TAPS president and founder Bonnie Carroll said she is confident Nazzic’s experience has primed her the new role.
“The TAPS Board of Directors plays a critical role monitoring and managing the organization, ensuring it meets its mission,” “Nazzic’s business acumen and compassion for families of our fallen military makes her a valuable addition to the board.”
At SAIC, Keene works to manage customer relations, expands the company’s business pipeline and drives growth and executive oversight of program execution.
“I am honored to be a member of the TAPS Board and I look forward to supporting its mission of providing extremely important services to assist anyone grieving the loss of a military service member,” Keene said.
Apart from her work with SAIC and TAPS, Keene at the end of February was elected to serve on the board of directors for Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts. She has also served as an executive committee member for the National Capital Region’s Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
