CACI International Inc. has announced that its Chief Medical Information Officer, Dr. Keith Salzman, received the 2013 Physician IT Leadership Award from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
HIMSS, a global network of health IT professionals, will recognize him Feb. 25 at its annual conference and exhibition, where CACI will also be exhibiting healthcare solutions.
Salzman’s leadership in applying information technology to the needs of physicians while serving HIMSS and the industry is the crux of the award, according to CACI.
Salzman is a physician, leader and innovator with more than 24 years of experience caring for patients and pioneering informatics in the U.S. Army.
Since joining CACI in March 2011, he has been an important part of the company’s Healthcare Solutions Group, which meets the federal sector’s increasing demand for new healthcare strategies and technology. Salzman is also board-certified in the new subspecialty Clinical Informatics and is serving a second term as chair of the HIMSS Interoperability and Standards Committee.
CACI Chief Operating Officer John Mengucci said, “Dr. Keith Salzman is a valuable member of our healthcare practice. His unique ability to translate medical requirements into information technology solutions is a tremendous benefit to our customers. And his U.S. Army background, coupled with his engagement in the healthcare industry, makes him the perfect proponent of our diverse healthcare solutions portfolio.”
According to CACI President and Chief Executive Officer Ken Asbury, “CACI has achieved remarkable success providing thought leadership for the healthcare community, and our Chief Medical Information Officer, Dr. Keith Salzman, is a key part of this accomplishment. Dr. Salzman’s receipt of the Physician IT Leadership Award further demonstrates that we have the talent in place to deliver on our strategy to focus on the high-growth healthcare market and provide transformative solutions that save government money, help achieve better care, and offer taxpayer value.”
