Anil Karmel, former deputy chief technology officer for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), has left the federal government and founded C2 Labs, Inc. as its chief executive officer, according to a C2 Labs announcement Wednesday.

C2 Labs, located in Reston, is a new cloud security and services startup focused on enabling IT agility by simplifying complexity through innovative products and services, allowing customers to “command and control YOUR cloud.”

“I am excited to take my years of service within the department, most recently spent designing and co-leading the NNSA’s IT Transformation Program, and applying these lessons learned to assist others in their journey to the cloud,” said Karmel. “The new product offerings we are bringing to market will transform the way companies consume and deliver IT services with security baked in, not bolted on.”

C2 Labs currently offers cloud services and is developing new cloud security products to bring to market. Cloud services include independent, vendor-neutral cloud assessments led by experienced executive consultants with a broad and deep skill set across multiple technical disciplines.

The organization performs a cost-effective analysis of the customer’s current environment with business, technical, cyber security and operational architectural feedback distilled into an actionable report. Change Agents consisting of experienced, security-cleared executive consultants are available to partner with customers on their journey to the cloud leveraging their own internal staff, their contract staff or C2 Labs partners, according to the company.
