In the news this week, WashingtonExec revealed the 2013 GovCon Awards winners, the premier awards program honoring the leadership, innovation and commitment to excellence of the individuals and businesses in the region’s government contracting sector. Among the winners were Brad Antle, Joe Martore and Kymm McCabe. We recently interviewed the nominees in our annual GovCon Nominee series.

Alan Berson, author of Leadership Conversations, wrote a guest column this week titled, “When Your Best People Leave Your Team.”

WashingtonExec jumped in on the conversation with a fresh new feature story that uncovers the secret ingredients to the U.S. Navy’s ability to perpetually produce top business leaders. Read more here.

In acquisition announcements, A-T Solutions Inc. announced its acquisition of GreenLine Systems, Acentia completed its acquisition of InSysCo, and Sage Communications aquired Longbottom Communications.

In executive moves, Chris Smith was appointed Vice President of Technology at AT&T Federal Government Solutions, Bill Maguire was promoted to Chief Operating Officer at IntelliDyne, LLC, and MacAulay-Brown, Inc. announced two key promotions in its senior leadership as well as the company’s plan to open a new office in the mid-Atlantic region.

A number of contract awards were announced including OnPoint Consulting, Inc and its recent task order from the U.S. Army to provide automation & analytical support, Octo Consulting Group‘s $11 million contract supporting the U.S. Treasury’s Office of DC Pensions, and the AMERICAN SYSTEMS $23.5 million contract from the U.S. Navy to continue support of the ERATs program.

Of course, there are plenty of upcoming awards and black-tie galas to look forward to. Here are just a few below:
