The Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) has appointed five new members to its Board of Directors and four new members to its Board of Advisors for the 2014 term. These leaders, from careers across the intelligence and national security communities — industry, government and academia — will bring INSA new insight and expertise to further enhance INSA’s presence and credibility across these communities. They will join the INSA Board Chairman, Ambassador John Negroponte, and current Board members in further strengthening INSA’s leadership team for the coming year.

“INSA is a respected, credible and reliable resource and venue where intelligence and national security professionals come together from across these diverse communities. The organization’s growing influence and success stem from the invaluable contributions made by the members of the INSA Board of Directors and Board of Advisors, and I welcome this year’s new members to the INSA leadership team. I look forward to working together with the INSA Boards, Councils and Task Forces, and staff to fulfill our mission and continue to serve the IC in 2014,” said Ambassador John Negroponte.

The new members of the 2014 INSA Board of Directors are:

    • Ambassador J.D. Crouch, Chief Executive Officer, QinetiQ North America
    • Major General (USA, Retired) Barbara G. Fast, Senior Vice President, Army Defense and Intelligence Programs, CGI Federal
    • Scott Large, Director, Deloitte Consulting LLP
    • Mark Lowenthal, President, Intelligence & Security Academy
    • Alden Munson, Senior Fellow, Potomac Institute for Policy Studies

Ambassador Joseph DeTrani, President of INSA said, “As INSA continues to grow, the 2014 Board of Directors and Board of Advisors will help in continuing to guide INSA to higher levels of leadership and influence. INSA looks to its Boards for leadership and direction – they will be vital in further developing INSA’s strategic plan in growing the organization and increasing its influence. The new Board members each bring the industry knowledge and career experience we need to grow INSA’s membership and lead INSA to the next level of support in forging the public, private and academic partnerships which will enhance our national security.”

The five new members of the Board of Directors will join the ten current Board members for a three-year term. They will advise and guide the development and strategic direction of the organization over the coming year. The Board of Directors will work closely with INSA’s Board of Advisors, along with INSA Councils and Task Forces and INSA staff, to best serve its members as the premier forum for networking, collaboration and policy discussion of our nation’s most challenging intelligence and national security issues.

The INSA Board of Advisors will offer guidance, vision and direction to the organization.  There are a total of 21 members of the Board of Advisors, all with extensive intelligence and/or national security backgrounds, including its four new members:

    • Lieutenant General (USA, Retired) Ronald (Ron) L. Burgess, Jr., Senior Counsel for National Security Programs, Cyber Programs and Military Affairs, Auburn University
    • Babs Doherty, President and Chief Executive Officer, Eagle Ray Inc.
    • John Hynes, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, TASC Inc.
    • Thomas Kirchmaier, Corporate Vice President, General Dynamics, and President, General Dynamics – Advanced Information Systems
