The Professional Services Council (PSC) yesterday met with Senator Tim Kaine, D-Va., to discuss the effects the government shutdown is having on federal contractors and their employees.

“We appreciated the opportunity to explain the effects directly to the senator,” PSC President and CEO Stan Soloway said. “He carefully listened to our concerns about the toll the shutdown is having on the ‘whole of government,’ government, military and contractor personnel together. The individuals who were present are, of course, reflective of a much broader community of people who have been significantly impacted.”

Soloway participated in the meeting hosted by Kaine with a small group of representatives from industry and the public-sector workforce who have been furloughed or are on leave without pay.

“The meeting left me hopeful that our voices are being heard and that the full, and rapidly growing, impacts of the shutdown on federal employees, contractors and their employees, and federal programs serving the American people, are becoming better understood,” Soloway said.
