Splunk Inc. today announced Steve Sommer, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Splunk and Prescott Winter, Managing Director of The Chertoff Group and former CIO and CTO of the National Security Agency (NSA), will deliver the security keynote at the fourth annual Splunk Worldwide Users’ Conference (.conf2013) in Las Vegas.

The joint presentation, titled “How Big Data is Transforming Security,” will address how new and more advanced software is transforming security intelligence at organizations around the world. The security keynote will take place Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 1:45 p.m. PT.

Winter will draw upon his 27 years at the NSA and current role as managing director working with former DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff. He will also address the technological revolution within industries and governments.

“Technological innovation is driving a new wave of defensive tactics in cybersecurity,” said Winter. “I am excited to have the opportunity to speak about this cyber-revolution at the Splunk Users’ Conference and how companies like Splunk are reshaping the global conversation on protecting data, networks and intellectual property.”

Sommer will outline how Splunk software empowers organizations to address the complex challenges identified by Winter.

“As the lines between enterprise technology, data and government security blur, our goal is to continue innovating and leading the evolution of the security intelligence landscape,” said Sommer. “This keynote will not only address what experts can expect from the latest developments in technology, but also how to best use Splunk software to realize strategic value as part of this larger puzzle.”

The conference is set to take place September 30th through October 3rd at The Cosmopolitan Hotel of Las Vegas. This year’s theme is “Your Data, No Limits” and will feature more than 130 sessions, with nine speaking tracks and more than 40 customer presentations including:
