SourceAmerica last week unveiled its “Commercial Business Partnership in Support of AbilityOne Program” award to Northrop Grumman Corporation.

SourceAmerica, a Vienna, Va. based nonprofit formerly branded as NISH, aims to create job opportunities for individuals with significant disabilities.

Wes Bush, Northrop Grumman’s chairman, president and CEO, accepted the award which honored Northrop Grumman for its partnership with MVLE Inc. — an agency that partners with businesses to support individuals with disabilities — which the company says has progressed Northrop Grumman’s commitment to augmenting workforce diversity.

“Our economy is driven by brain-power and innovation,” Bush said. “We constantly look for the kind of talent that is getting harder and harder to find. The incredible pool of talent represented by people with significant disabilities in this country is an amazing resource. This talent is also a great source of diversity – in thought and understanding – for our company.”

Bob Chamberlin — the CEO and President of AbilityOne authorized enterprise Source America — said Northrop Grumman’s partnership with MVLE would help the AbilityOne network expand from the federal contracting landscape to the commercial one.

The alliance makes MVLE the first nonprofit to be accepted into the Department of Defense (DoD) Mentor – Protégé Program (MPP) — a group that offers assistance to small disadvantaged businesses.
