Destination Innovation Award Winners

The Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) recently recognized innovative technology companies and products at Destination Innovation, an event highlighting technology advancements emerging from the local region. The event took place at The Washington Post headquarters in downtown Washington, D.C. on Monday, May 6th.

The event featured an exhibition, networking opportunities, industry speakers, company presentations and a mini-competition to highlight technological innovations in the region. About 20 presenting companies were grouped into four categories, and were judged by third-party participants not directly involved with the planning of the event.

This year, NVTC introduced a new element to the competition – an audience choice award. Audience votes were collected via text message and each attendee was allowed one vote.

The winners of the Destination Innovation competition are as follows:

  • Best Startup Presentation: Light Point Security
  • Best Small Company Presentation: Oculis Labs
  • Best Mid-Size Company Presentation: Berico Technologies
  • Best Large Company Presentation: Verizon Wireless
  • Audience Choice Award: BetterPress
