AFCEA International recently announced it has selected Jill Singer and John Gilligan as co-chairs for its Cyber Committee. Singer and Gilligan will work with the committee to coordinate and enhance AFCEA’s outreach to the responsible communities, and to cultivate the spirit of of partnership among the public and private sectors. The Cyber Committee is made up of representatives of government, private sector and academia who provide and promote an ethical dialogue on cyber-related issues.
“Both Jill and John bring a tremendous wealth of knowledge, experience and leadership skills to continue on the path of success led by their predecessors, Zal Azmi and Charlie Croom. Without a doubt the committee will be well served by their collaborative talents and innovation,” said Vince Patton, vice president, Homeland Security at AFCEA International and the AFCEA Representative for the Cyber Committee.
Singer, who has 27 years of service in the federal arena as CIO for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and Deputy CIO at the CIA, is the owner of consulting firm Tummler Singer Associates, LLC. She has held positions at SAIC, GE Aerospace and IBM. Singer has also served on AFCEA’s Cyber Committee for more than three years and currently serves as a Executive-on-Ground for UVA McIntire School of Commerce.
Gilligan is the President of IT consulting firm, the Gilligan Group. He was previously Senior Vice President and Director of the Defense Sector at SRA International. He has worked in the federal area, serving as CIO of the U.S. Air Force and the Energy Department. The executive previously served on the Obama-Biden Transition team, focusing on IT within the DoD and Intelligence Communities. Currently, Gilligan serves as chairman of the board of directors for the Center for Internet Security, Cyber Griffin Inc., and HDT Global, Inc.
