Dr. Mark Hewitt has today been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at QinetiQ North America (QNA). Hewitt, who has been with the company since 2010, will lead strategy formation, corporate development and strategic investments. His responsibilities also include overseeing business development activities and will lead QNA defense and commercial innovation programs.

“Mark has been a valuable member of the QNA executive team and I am honored to continue working with him to build our QNA future,” said JD Crouch, chief executive officer of QinetiQ North America. “Mark will play a central role in assessing our core markets, crafting our business strategy, identifying new opportunities and driving growth.”

The executive joined the firm as Senior Vice President for Strategy and went on to serving as Executive Vice President of Operations and Strategic Development. Prior to joining the company, Dr. Hewitt led defense and intelligence programs at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He has held positions in federal agencies including the U.S. Defense Department where he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary, and the FBI where he lead an inter-agency cyber intelligence unit.

Dr. Hewitt has also spent time as a visiting scholar at George Washington University’s Center for International Science and Technology Policy.
