    Innovation Celebrated at 2012 FGDLA Awards Banquet

    Innovation federal executives were honored late last week at the Federal Government Distance Learning Association (FGDLA) awards. The event was held at the Hyatt Reston Town Center, with 175 nominees and their guests attending. The annual FGDLA awards highlight federal executives harnessing new technologies that increase efficiencies and better accomplish their agency missions.

    In the current federal budgetary climate, innovation is needed as never before. These federal leaders have implemented distance learning programs that reduce travels expenditures dramatically. At the same time, training and professional development materials are offered in additional formats and venues,  increasing the efficiency of the organization as a whole.

    The following winners were honored:

    Individual

    Eagle:  G. A. Redding, Redding Associates

    Hall of Fame: Paul Jesukiewicz, Booz Allen Hamilton

    Pioneer: James McGettigan, National Park Service

    Russ Colbert (Polycom Federal), Janine Lebeouf (DAU), Alex Autry (Air Technology Network)

    Pioneer: Dr. Judith Bayless

    Pillar:   Russ Colbert, Polycom Federal

    Organizational

    Eagle:  Defense Acquisition University

    Five Star: U.S. Customs and Border Protection

    Five Star: National Park Service, Department of the Interior

    Five Star: Veteran’s Health Administration

    Five Star: Air Technology Office, Program Management Office

    Innovation: U.S. National Guard

    Innovation: World Bank

    James McGettigan, National Park Service

    Innovation: 367th Training Support Squadron, Hill AFB, Utah

    Pillar:  Polycom Federal

    The FGDLA is a nonprofit association and for the past two decades has been a leading advocate of distance learning inside the federal government. The FGDLA is a chapter of the United States Distance Learning Association. Congratulations to all the 2012 winners!
