Kay Kapoor has been named head of AT&T Government Solutions, the unit within AT&T that serves a wide range of federal agencies. She will report to Frank Jules, President, Global Business Solutions at AT&T Corp, and be based out of AT&T’s Oakton, Va. office.

“I’m proud to join and lead AT&T’s federal business at this critical time,” said Kay Kapoor. “The federal government is going through a technological transformation, embracing mobile and cloud solutions while combating new cyber security threats to our nation’s infrastructure. AT&T is clearly established in these areas and uniquely positioned to help federal customers meet these pressing challenges.”

In her new role, Kapoor will help deliver IT and professional services solutions to government customers at the federal level, leading the organization’s 4,000 employees.

Kapoor previously was Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Accenture’s federal sector, a post she resigned from last fall to “pursue other career opportunities.”

“At a time when the federal government is transforming how it does business, Kay brings the necessary focus, depth of experience, and proven record to lead our federal business, helping our customers succeed in this new environment,” said AT&T Global Business Solutions President, Frank Jules.

Kapoor spoke with WashingtonExec back in 2011 to offer her insights on how the industry would fare in 2012.
