WashingtonExec 2013 Government Contracting Outlook Series:

The new year brings big changes for the Federal IT industry, and WashingtonExec is back with its Government Contracting Industry Outlook Series.

We are giving local executives the opportunity to share their thoughts on where they see our industry headed this year and beyond. Leaders were asked a series of questions focused on cloud computing, healthcare IT, defense, mobility, and more.

Eric Oberhofer, Data Center Practice Director for Iron Bow, talked about where he sees big data heading in the new year. And according to him, it’s going to be the source of big changes for 2013:

“Big data will be a huge catalyst for change and opportunity in 2013. It will create new jobs, as the demand for skilled professionals who can work with large, complex data sets continues to grow. Additionally, I think several acquisitions can be expected, as well as more players entering the market which validates the size and scale of the opportunity in big data. From a technical aspect, I see in-memory analytics and Flash technologies changing architectures and traditional models. Standardized toolsets and platforms will make workloads easier to manipulate and allow for organizations to turn raw data into actionable information.”
