Sterling Phillips has been appointed CEO and President of US Investigations Services, LLC (USIS) by its parent, Altegrity, Inc, reporting to Altegrity CEO Sharon Rowlands from January 1, 2013.

“Sterling brings to USIS an impressive blend of government, security and technology experience,” said Altegrity CEO Rowlands. “His success leading organizations with geographically dispersed workforces and demonstrated commitment to maximizing value for customers and stakeholders promises to accelerate the company’s growth trajectory. I’m looking forward to working with Sterling to best serve our clients and position USIS for the future.”

At USIS, Phillips will have overall responsibility of the company’s Investigative Services Division and Global Security Solutions Division, which has more than 6,000 employees worldwide.

Prior to joining USIS, an industry leader in security consulting solutions and the largest commercial provider of background investigations to the federal government, Phillips was CEO, President, and Director of GTSI, an IT systems integration and services provider to federal, state and local governments.

“USIS employees are truly devoted to the company’s mission: protecting national security and supporting decision-makers worldwide,” said Sterling Phillips. “I’m proud to be part of this team and to continue a tradition of exceptional customer service.”

Phillips was also a venture partner at FirstMark Capital from 2007 to 2010, and before was Chairman and CEO of Analex Corporation, an intelligence, systems engineering and security services provider to government agencies, for six years.
He has also held senior positions in operations, sales, and marketing at Federal Data Corporation, TRI-COR Industries and Computer Sciences Corporation. His career bega, however, with a 24-year stint at IBM.
