Engility Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: EGL) has announced that it has been awarded a multi-million dollar competitive task order by the John A. Volpe National Transportation System Center. The order is to support a facilities planning project related to the Federal Aviation Administration’s NextGen program.
“Engility, through its legacy companies, has been a partner with the Volpe Center for more than 20 years and we are currently working under several other task orders with the Center,” said Tony Smeraglinolo, President and CEO of Engility. “We are honored to receive this latest task order and appreciate the opportunity to support the Volpe Center and its sponsor, the FAA, on this aspect of the NextGen mission.”
Engility will provide program management and economic analysis support to the NextGen Facilities Program under the task order, which has a not-to-exceed value of approximately $26.8 million. The task order is set 48 months from the date of the award, which was July 25th of this year.
NextGen is an umbrella term for the ongoing transformation of the National Airspace System (NAS) and represents an evolution from the current ground-based system of air traffic control to an advanced satellite-based system of air traffic management.
Under the new facilities program task order, Engility will primarily provide economists, systems engineers, and business analysts to help the Volpe Center and its FAA sponsor in the planning, economic analysis and evaluation, and program management strategy development for the NextGen future facilities effort.
