Salient Federal Solutions, Inc. (Salient) recently announced that it has partnered with Stop Hunger Now in an effort to respond to emergency needs around the world.

The company is a leading provider of information technology, engineering, and intelligence analytic services to agencies in the intelligence, defense, homeland security, cyber security, and federal civilian markets. Its partnership is an expansion with the Making a Difference program, which the company has already established with other local and national nonprofit organizations.

Stop Hunger Now, an international hunger relief agency, has been fighting the battle to end hunger for over 14 years. During this time, it has mobilized 200,000 volunteers to package over 71 million meals, and coordinated their delivery to over 70 countries.

“In our world more than 25,000 people die every day from hunger and hunger-related illnesses,” said Shelton Mercer, COO of Stop Hunger Now. “In order to combat this horrific situation, we are striving to increase our ability to respond to this need. Due to the efficiency and success of our meal packaging program, we seek to engage even more volunteers in the movement to end hunger. We are proud to have partnered with Salient and look forward to our collaboration in the coming months.”

With a vision for a world without hunger and a mission to end hunger in one’s lifetime with food and life-saving aid to the world’s most vulnerable, Stop Hunger Now also strives to create a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources. It receives and distributes significant donations of in-kind aid in response to the immediate needs around the world. Donations include large quantities of food, medicines, medical supplies, and any other items to combat hunger and provide relief in a crisis.

With Stop Hunger Now’s meal packaging program, volunteers package dehydrated, high protein, and highly nutritious meals that are used in crisis situations and in school feeding programs for schools and orphanages in developing countries.

“We encourage all employees to embrace their role and create value through actions they take every day,” said Brad Antle, president and CEO of Salient. “This is not only a Salient event, but a family event, and an international event. It is more than just donating money; it is an opportunity to actively participate in our community for a great cause.”

Salient’s Making a Difference Program focuses on continuous deliberate actions that contribute to organizations supporting people and helping underserved communities. It has donated 30,000 meals, as well as volunteer hours to prepare those meal packages, in its work with Stop Hunger Now. This year’s campaign, “$10 feeds 40”, is available for donations, with every $10 donated providing forty nutritious meals.

Salient will be holding two events to prepare meal packages: October 27 at its San Diego, CA office, and November 3 at its McLean, VA office. Volunteers are encouraged to participate and sign up. To donate or volunteer, visit Stop Hunger Now.
