    Neelu Modali, SMRC

Maryland-based research and development firm SMRC has grown 435 percent in three years and added 50 jobs. Now, the company has another feather in its cap: it joins Microsoft and Jamba Juice as Inc. 5000 honorees.

Each year the magazine produces a list of top growing American private businesses. SMRC earned its spot this year after success working with government, business and academic clients to meet national challenges.

Some of the company’s projects include working with the military to test environmental, chemical and biological instruments.

President and CEO Neelu Modali said on company’s website, “Resting on my laurels has never been a strong suit of mine…Today, we have a new mission – to power U.S. competitiveness and global leadership in science, engineering, and technology.”
