The Bite Me Cancer board and fundraising committee is presenting its first charity event to benefit the Bite Me Cancer Foundation on Sunday, August 12 from 11 a.m to 2 p.m.
Take a Swing at Cancer, at Dulles Golf Center and Sports Park in Dulles, Va., will help the group with its goal of raising $50,000 to fund a two-year research grant, in honor of the 50,000 people who will be diagnosed with thyroid cancer this year.
A ticket to the family-oriented benefit includes all activities at the park, such as batting cages, miniature golf and beach volleyball courts. Prices range from $5 for kids under five years old, to $30 for adults, and can be purchased online.
According to the organization’s website, it’s already raised over $3,000.
Nikki Ferraro founded the nonprofit in 2010 as a high school junior, after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The group supports thyroid awareness, research grant funding and teen support programs for young people receiving cancer treatment.
Tickets and information about the event can be found online.
