Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) will acquire maxIT Healthcare Holdings, the largest private healthcare IT consulting company in North America.
MaxIT Healthcare works with over 600 hospitals, hospital groups, physician practices and accountable care organizations (ACOs) in the U.S. and Canada. Combined with the Vitalize Consulting Solutions team, which it acquired last year, SAIC will operate the largest electronic health records implementation and optimization commercial consulting practice in the country.
SAIC also plans to provide electronic health records implementation and integration to federal healthcare customers with the acquisition.
“The maxIT Healthcare team brings significant capabilities and talent to SAIC, as well as an outstanding reputation with its customers for providing the highest level of service,” said SAIC Group President Joe Craver, head of the Health, Energy and Civil Solutions Group. “Combined with our acquisition of VCS, this deal enhances SAIC’s capabilities to address the nation’s challenge of rising healthcare costs, access to quality care, and the need to improve patient outcomes.”
About 1,300 maxIT Healthcare employees will join the Health Solutions Business Unit at SAIC. The company’s acquisition is expected to close next month, for $473 million.
