Women in Technology (WIT), is now accepting applications for the second annual Leadership Foundry. The Leadership Foundry provides 15-20 women based in the Washington, D.C. region with concentrated board training sessions, networking and mentoring opportunities with the goal of participants landing and thriving in their first corporate board seat.
WIT created the program last year to assist more senior women executives to serve on corporate boards after a report by American University’s Kogod School of Business said that out of 1,318 board seats in Virginia, only 101 were occupied by women. In Washington, D.C., women held 14 of 109 board seats.
“The Leadership Foundry’s boardroom training classes gave me a firsthand look at what it takes to be an effective boardroom director,” said Nancy Ortmeyer Kuhn, a partner at Jackson & Campbell, P.C. “With this insight, along with my improved networking skills and new contacts, I’m confident in my ability to pursue and perform a significant role on a corporate board.”
Interested participants can learn more or apply online at WIT’s website, www.womenintechnology.org, or contact WIT at (703) 766-1153. Applications will be accepted until July 25, 2012 and there is a $100 application fee.
