Sotera and USGIF teamed up to donate $10,000 to Fisher House Foundation, a private-public partnership that provides comfortable housing on VA medical campuses while their soldier recovers.Keith Masback, President of USGIF, and John Hillen, President & CEO of Sotera, presented the check together at a brief ceremony at the Foundation’s headquarters in Rockville, Maryland yesterday.Hillen said that Sotera and USGIF picked Fisher House for the donation “because they have an outstanding track record in supporting members of the military and their families while they undergo treatment from injuries and illnesses.  As a government contracting company that focuses on delivering national security solutions, a big focus of our Corporate Responsibility is supporting members of the military and veterans.”The Fisher House program has provided its services to nearly 160,000 families since it was established in 1990. The goal of the program is to provide “comfort homes” near VA hospitals, so that families can focus on supporting their soldiers as they recuperate.Fisher House homes accommodate 16 to 42 family members and feature a common kitchen, laundry facilities, dining room, living room with library, and toys for children.Sotera and USGIF held a fundraiser last October during the 2011 GEOINT Symposium in San Antonio. Sotera raised over $3,700 selling raffle tickets for a series of Stephen Fishwick original patriotic paintings painted live in Sotera’s booth on the show floor.  USGIF matched and supplemented Sotera’s contribution to bring the total donation to $10,000.Keith Masback said, “Through our partnership with Sotera we are able to contribute to the community and support the amazing work of the Fisher House Foundation. I’m a firm believer in partnerships. It’s absolutely the way we work at USGIF, and so joining forces with Sotera is exactly how we at USGIF like to support the families of our men and women in uniform.”Read more about Sotera CEO John Hillen’s recognition during International Corporate Philanthropy Day here as well as his three pieces of advice to his children here.
