On Tuesday, President Barack Obama tapped White House insider Jeffrey Zients to be the acting director of the Office of Management and Budget, replacing Jack Lew who will leave the post to become Obama’s chief of staff. This is Zients’ second stint as acting OMB director. He previously held the post from July-November 2010 after the resignation of Peter Orszag. At present, Zients is the OMB’s deputy director for management and chief performance officer. No Senate confirmation is needed for an acting director.
