    Siemens Government Technologies Appoints Three External Board Members

    Recently, Siemens Government Technologies appointed three external board members. General Stanley McChrystal, former Commander of the U.S. and International Security Assistance Forces Afghanistan, will serve as Chairman of the Board. He will be joined by former U.S. Army Lieutenant General John Sylvester and retired Lockheed Martin and General Electric executive Robert Coutts who will serve as board members.

    President and CEO of Siemens Government Technologies, Judy Marks, said, “Our newly appointed board members bring a wealth of experience in identifying the challenges of the Federal marketplace and knowing how to meet these needs. Siemens has the capabilities to provide solutions to reduce energy consumption, increase efficiencies, offer sophisticated medical services for our nation’s warfighters and achieve infrastructure improvements as a key strategic partner for the Federal government.”

    “I am proud to join the board of a company whose innovative products, solutions and services are helping our government customers perform their missions to address our nation’s most complex problems,” said General Stanley McChrystal.

    General Stanley McChrystal is a retired four-star general in the United States Army, most recently serving as commander of the U.S. and International Security Assistance Forces Afghanistan (ISAF). Previously, he was the commander of the premier military counter-terrorism force, Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). General McChrystal graduated from West Point and the U.S. Naval War College and continued on to complete fellowships at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and the Council on Foreign Relations.

    Lieutenant General John Sylvester is a veteran of the Vietnam and Gulf Wars, receiving the Silver Star for his service during Operation Desert Storm. Lieutenant General Sylvester most recently served as the Chief of Staff, Headquarters of the U.S. European Command in Germany. Lieutenant General Sylvester attended the Army War College and also holds a Master of Science Degree in Education from Long Island University and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University.

    Robert Coutts is the former Executive VP of the Electronic Systems Business Area for Lockheed Martin Corporation, retiring in 2008. He was previously the President and COO of the company’s $7 billion Systems Integration business area. Coutts was also an officer of the Corporation and a member of the Board of Directors of Lockheed Martin Finance Corporation, Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems, Inc., Lockheed Martin UK and Lockheed Martin Espana. Mr. Coutts holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University.
