United States Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra will deliver the keynote at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) 2011 Industry Forum. The event will be hosted at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, Ca. from October 23rd to October 26th. The Forum will connect and educate consumer technology professionals, analysts and media personnel on industry trends, emerging technologies, technical standards and legislation affecting the CE industry. CEA is a preeminent trade association that promotes growth in the $190 billion U.S. consumer electronics industry.

Chopra is the assistant to the President and Associate Director for Technology within the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. As part of his role as CTO, Chopra advances the President’s technology agenda by developing new ideas and encouraging government-wide coordination to help the country meet its goals of job creation, reduced health care costs, and ensured national security.

“We are delighted to have Aneesh keynote our Industry Forum event, allowing our attendees to hear from the Obama Administration’s top technology and innovation evangelist,” said Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of CEA. “We look forward to Aneesh sharing his vision for the government’s open data initiative and for how the administration is leveraging technology to keep our country innovative and competitive.”

Before his appointment as CTO, Chopra served as Secretary for Technology for the Commonwealth of Virginia from January 2006 to April 2009. Government Technology magazine included Chopra in its Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers issue.
