The Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) completed its acquisition of Vitalize Consulting Solutions(VCS) Inc.

VCS, a leading provider of clinical, business and information technology services for healthcare enterprises, serves customers primarily in the commercial hospital industry. It is responsible for implementing electronic health record (EHR) products and systems by producing a range of services which include strategic consulting, system implementation and operational improvement. VCS is also a specialized vendor in EHR systems for major commercial-off-the-shelf, ambulatory and practice management vendors.

“VCS brings a long history of excellent service to its commercial customers, and we are pleased to have them join our team,” said Steve Comber, general manager of SAIC’s Health Solutions Business Unit (HSBU). “As government organizations increasingly adopt COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) EHR solutions, the combination of SAIC’s established customer base in government and Vitalize’s strong commercial EHR implementation capabilities will help create a synergistic set of business opportunities in the future.”

SAIC, which is a leading provider in the scientific, engineering, and technology application industry, will be expanding in the commercial health provider market by integrating its information and data analytics expertise with VCS healthcare information technology. More than 600 VCS employees are part of HSBU, which is headed by Comber. HSBU is a smaller part of the Health, Energy, and Civil Solutions Group, which is headed by SAIC Group President Joe Craver.

“We welcome VCS and its employees to SAIC, and look forward to combining our capabilities to better serve our federal and commercial customers through the implementation of commercial EHR products and solutions,” Craver said.
