David Hunt and Bob Irelan are the two latest additions to the leadership team at AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a leading provider of federal IT and engineering solutions and one of the largest employee-owned companies in the United States.

Hunt was named Vice President and Director of the NCI Directorate, a part of the Joint and International Concepts Division. As VP and Director, Hunt will develop new business and advance AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ expertise in providing organizational, technical and analytical solutions to the federal government at the Dumfries, Va. office.

Hunt joined the company back in 2008 as the Deputy Program Manager for the $42 million Omnibus Department of Defense Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Program contract and also served as the lead for Full Spectrum Effects business development. Before AMERICAN SYSTEMS Hunt served in the United States Marine Corps as a Naval Aviator.

Bob Irelan  was promoted as the Vice President and Director of the Navy Expeditionary Warfare Division as part of the Professional Services Market Sector, and will assist U.S. Navy clients in the implementation of the upcoming mid-life modernization for the Navy’s big landing helicopter deck. With over 27 years of experience in the maintenance, operations, training and management of U.S. Navy ships, Irelan is sure to be a great asset to AMERICAN SYSTEMS.

He joined the company last year as the Program Manager for the Navy Training Systems Planning initiative supporting Naval Sea Systems Command, PMS 470 and Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division. Irelan led the growth of the enterprise through his excellent performance and now he will continue to provide this level of support to the customer in his new role. Prior to joining AMERICAN SYSTEMS, Irelan served as a Commander LHD/LHA/LPD CLASSRON and now will be working out of the company’s Chesapeake, Va. office.

“David is well-equipped to execute the NCI Directorate’s strategy to provide mission critical services to its customers in the federal market, and Bob is prepared to continue exceeding customer expectations with the Navy Training Systems Planning initiative,” said William C. Hoover, president and CEO, AMERICAN SYSTEMS. “Both David and Bob have exhibited the exceptional leadership and dedication which ensures AMERICAN SYSTEMS consistently delivers on its customers’ missions.”
